What is dengue and how is it caused?

Symptoms of dengue fever include severe joint and muscle pain, swollen lymph nodes, headache, fever, exhaustion, and rash. The presence of fever, rash, and headache (the "dengue triad") is characteristic of dengue fever.

On the other hand, special attention needs to be given to these warning signs as it could lead to severe dengue:

  • Fatigue/ restlessness

Can tawa tawa cure dengue?

Administering tawa-tawa decoction to animal models help improve their healing mechanism. Tawa-tawa was able to promote cell production, and prevents platelet destruction. Likewise, the improvement in the cell bleeding time and clotting time provided evidence that the indigenous plant can preserve and promote the hemostatic function of platelets.Phenolic compounds were also discovered in tawa-tawa, active ingredients suspected to be responsible in the increased platelet counts of tested animals.

Can papaya cure dengue?

It has been proved both in modern medicine and Ayurveda that papaya leaf juice is beneficial. About 30mL of fresh papaya leaf juice helps in increasing the platelet count and, therefore, in the treatment of dengue. Studies have been conducted in Malaysia as well as Thailand about the benefits of papaya leaf for dengue patients.
